Groesbeck Middle School Tennis

You will be expected to respect your teammates and play with heart and passion as a team. Focus on your team, and leave class each day knowing you gave all you could, and this sport will have a very positive impact on your life. 

These are the areas that will be covered over the entire year:

• Parts of the tennis court
• Tennis rules and etiquette
• Grips
• Forehand
• Backhand
• Serve
• Volley
• Singles Match Play
• Doubles Match Play

Grading policy: 100 Points Total Per Six Weeks

• Attitude and Participation=60 points
• Weekly assignment=20 points (4 points each week) due on Thursday
• End of 6 Weeks assignment= 20 points (May be in the form of a paper or test) due on last Thursday of six weeks period

These assignments will be an important part of learning the strategies, rules, and etiquette of tennis.

Late assignments will have a point deducted for each day the assignment is missing.

Dressing out in athletic attire (shorts, sweatpants, t-shirt, tennis shoes, etc.) and having tennis racket in class are 50% of total attitude and participation grade. Not dressing out, or having equipment for the day will result in a point deduction.
